I. Alignment Exercise

Study information in your text on alignment. Then work to improve the alignment of this business card, using InDesign software. To do that, you'll have to create a new document.

  1. Choose New from the File pulldown, Facing Pages off, Orientation horizontal.
  2. Draw a 1 pt rectangle using the rectangle tool, roughly the size of the original example. Obviously, this is an enlarged version of a real business card.
  3. Copy and paste this text:

(701) 231-7295

irving.nern@outfitters.com

Nern & Nern, Outfitters

Irving K. Nern,
chief guide and treehugger

307 Main Street
Basswood, Minnesota 56000

You don't have to paste a real photo; just draw a rectangle where you'd like the photo to be.

Improve alignment, based on information in the text. Print, submit for grading. In addition to your new design, list on a separate page:

Choose typefaces: a sans serif style for headlines, a serif style for body text (don't use times or times roman).

Based on these elements, improve the balance of the page. Print, submit for grading. In addition to your new design, list on a separate page:
