Plexippus Stål, 1868: 505. (barren genus; junior homonym of Plexippus Koch, 1846, Arachnida)

Hippota Bergroth, 1890 (new name for Plexippus Stål, 1868; junior homonym of Hippota Walker, 1871, Hymenoptera).

Hippotiscus Bergroth, 1906 (new name for Hippota Bergroth, 1890).

Type Species: Plexippus dorsalis Stål, 1869, by subsequent monotypy (Stål, 1869).

Included Species:

     dorsalis (Stål, 1869)
     marieluisae Arnold, 2002
     scutellatus Distant, 1912

Tribal Placement: Stål (1876) included Plexippus in his "Odius et affinia group"; Odius is a synonym of Caystrus.
