Banya Schouteden, 1916

Banya Schouteden, 1916: 309-310.

Type Species: Banya leplaei Schouteden, 1916, by monotypy.

Included Species:

leplaei Schouteden

Tribal Placement: Schouteden (1916) indicated that Banya was probably related to Menida (abdominal spine), but that it had superficial resemblance to members of Benia and Mabusana. Linnavuori (1982) showed that it was not related to the latter two genera; he also gave considerable evidence to separate it from Menida and allies. He placed it in its own generic group. Until this can be further studied and the group formally named, we take the conservative approach and leave this genus in the Menidini.
