nigripes (Westwood)
roei (Westwood)
scissicollis (Herrich-Schäffer)
tasmanicus Dallas
Tribal
Placement: Gross (1975) placed Dictyotus in its own group along
with 2 other genera, Paradictyotus and Utheria, but he
indicated a possible relationship with Laprius and Dorpius (=
Myrochea) of the Myrocheini.
Comments:
Kirkaldy (1909) inadvertently designated two species as type. On page XXIX,
he states: “Dictyotus erected for 11 species, of which tasmanicus,
roei, bipunctatus, inconspicuus, apicalis,
geniculatus, and discoideus have since been removed, from the
rest tasmanicus may be selected.” But on page 43 he lists “type
affinis! = roei.” Gross (1975) pointed out this discrepancy, and
strengthened the argument for tasmanicus as type: “Dictyotus
tasmanicus Dallas, 1851 (s.d. Kirkaldy 1851 [sic]). Kirkaldy in a later
page of the same publication (1909, Catalogue Hemiptera p. 43) selects
Pentatoma roei Westwood. However D. tasmanicus is the first
species mentioned by Dallas after the generic description.”
