Lithostratigraphic Column of the
Sonju Lake Intrusion & Finland Granophyre

Sonju Lithostratigraphy

The Sonju Lake Intrusion is overlain by the Finland Granophyre.  Contact relations between the two bodies are not well exposed and rock compositions are generally transitional and oscillatory across the contact zone.  The units in the map below are from field mapping by Miller et al. (1993).  Students assign their own names to these rock units based on their petrographic studies.  Stratigraphic heights are given in meters above basal contact of the Sonju Lake Intrusion.
