The
Hypothalamus
The hypothalamus is part of the diencephalon, but
it works with the pituitary gland to control most of the rest of the
major endocrine glands. Through its connections with the rest of the
brain dorsally and the pituitary gland ventrally it serves as a link
between the nervous and endocrine systems.
Hormones:
| releasing and inhibiting factors
that control anterior pituitary gland function.
|
| oxytocin and antidiuretic
hormone are produced in the hypothalamus and carried down to
the posterior pituitary where they are stored and
released. |
