Joints

 

Joints are the attachments between the bones of the skeleton. They can be immovable, slightly movable, or freely movable.

General terminology

arthro-, articular - refers to joints

 

Types of joints

 
fibrous joints - immovable

 

cartilaginous joints - slightly movable

 

synovial joints - freely movable
