Teeth

 Parts of a tooth:

 

bulletcrown - the exposed part of a tooth. Covered by enamel.
bulletroot - normally not exposed. Covered with cementum.
bulletneck - junction of crown and root
bulletdentin - hard connective tissue that makes up the bulk of the tooth.
bulletpulp cavity - space inside the tooth occupied by nerves and blood vessels.

 

Sets of teeth

bulletdeciduous teeth - baby teeth; temporary teeth
bulletpermanent teeth - not replaced if lost

 

Types of teeth

bulletincisor teeth - most rostral
bulletcanine teeth - located at the corners of the incisors. Not present in all species. These teeth are especially prominent in vampires.
bulletpremolar - rostral cheek teeth
bulletmolar - caudal cheek teeth
