To provide undergraduates students enrolled in English classes with an opportunity to present their term papers to an interested and competent audience, one that can respond to, question, and applaud their approach, Theile created this special topic session in 2005. Thanks to RMMLA, English students can now explore their professional skills and inclinations during the undergraduate program. Currently in its third year of existence, Undergraduates Unplugged has become a permanent feature at RMMLA, drawing such a powerful response that the RMMLA Secretariat has graciously provided two panels to accommodate eager applicants. Theile strongly believes in preparing undergraduates students for the profession. A professional conference presentation, with its concomitant immersion in the intellectual environment of the convention, encourages students to choose English for their major and to continue into Grad School after completion of the B.A., helping the freshman presenter of today to become the literary scholar of tomorrow.
