Sarah Martinsen Outstanding Service Award
About the Award
Each year, the NDSU Volunteer Network— in partnership with the Student Activities Office— honors a student with the Sarah Martinsen Outstanding Service Award.
This award is named in memory of Sarah Martinsen who was a junior at NDSU. On March 16, 2010 while on a Pay-It-Forward Tour for Students Today, Leaders Forever she passed away in Pensacola, Florida. Everyone who knew Sarah could tell that she was a young woman who had a passion to serve.
The NDSU Volunteer Network is commited to remembering Sarah with this special, annual award which is made possible by the generous financial contributions from her family.
Selection Criteria:
- Applicant must be a student during the folowing fall semester (when the award will be applied).
- Applicant must exemplify authentic citizenship characteristics and have a strong commitment to the world around them.
- Applicant needs to have worked to positively impact the community through service and civic engagement.
- Volunteer service may not be a paid job for the applicant.
Applications:
Applications are available on the NDSU Scholarship link and are accepted in accordance with the currently enrolled student deadlines.
Application Guidelines:
Applicants must complete the NDSU Scholarship Application to be considered for the award. Applicants will then be asked to provide information regarding community service involvement and its impact to be considered.
Recipients will be formally recognized at the annual Bison Leadership Awards in the spring.
