Get Involved
In The Community
One valuable way to get involved is to volunteer! The movement to fight sexual violence and support survivors was founded by volunteers. Without volunteers Rape Crisis Centers and Domestic Violence Shelters would not be able to do the work they do, or have the same impact on their communities.
A few local volunteer opportunities include:
- RAPE AND ABUSE CRISIS CENTER
Volunteers assist in responding to hospital calls and answering the crisis line after hours as well as fundraising, special events, outreach, and help around the office.

- YWCA Cass Clay
Volunteers help YWCA “Eliminate racism, empower women” by helping in the shelter, packing food boxes for families, helping with child care, cooking for shelter residents, helping families transition out of the shelter into long-term housing, and sorting donations. YWCA has both individual and group volunteer opportunities.

- Crisis Text Line
Volunteers respond to the Crisis Text Line remotely from their own homes. Volunteers “answer texts from people in crisis, bringing them from a hot movement to a cool calm through active listening, collaborative problem solving, and safety planning.”
