NDSU departments offer inventors workshop in Bismarck

 

The North Dakota State University Extension Service, Extension Centerfor Community Vitality, NDSU College of Engineering and Architecture,and North Dakota Commerce Department sponsored an Inventors Basic Training Boot Camp in Bismarck on Jan. 11-12.

To help participants turn their ideas into commercially viable products, the workshop covered patents, trademarks, trade secrets and documentation; designing, prototyping and product testing; developing business plans; branding and e-marketing; registration and licensing requirements; legalities and liabilities; funding; manufacturing decisions; and why North Dakota is a great place to start a business.

All of the speakers were experts from North Dakota, which made thisevent a great networking opportunity for inventors, according to David Lehman, NDSU Extension manufacturing engineering specialist.
