Dakota Alternative Beef Cow Systems Symposium
The Dakota Alternative Beef Cow Systems Symposium will provide up-to-date research and information for farmers and ranchers interested in alternative production practices due to limited perennial pastures and rangeland. The one-day event is offered at two in-person locations with one virtual option. Dates and locations are:
- Tuesday, Feb. 6, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Huron Event Center, Huron, SD
- Wednesday, Feb. 7, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Jamestown Civic Center, Jamestown, ND, or virtually through Zoom
Topics include:
- Feeding strategies to replace forage
- Creep-feeding calves in confinement systems
- Alternative grazing strategies that increase adaptability
- Trade-offs of alternative cow-calf systems compared to perennial pasture-based cow-calf systems
