Central Dakota Ag Day December 15
Long before we started ‘harvest season’ we were planning several events for ‘meeting season,’ fulfilling the Extension part of our mission. The Carrington REC has a full schedule of events planned in house, along with traveling to many conferences and workshops to present our research.
We invite you to attend Central Dakota Ag Day, Friday, December 15 at the Carrington REC. Foster County Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent Jeff Gale is organizing this full day with two keynote speakers and 18 concurrent sessions. The full schedule and many details are available online, but here are highlights:
- No pre-registration required.
- Keynote speakers begin and wrap up the day.
- The noon meal and refreshments are provided, thanks to our sponsors.
- Three concurrent tracks are scheduled under one roof.
- Agronomy sessions include updated fertilizer recommendations, the positive impacts of reduced tillage strategies, waterhemp and kochia management, and updates on wheat, corn, soybean, and dry bean production.
- Livestock sessions discuss emerging issues in cow health, weed control in pastures, NRCS programs for ranchers, rules for selling locker meat, and the outlook for cattle markets.
- New this year: Ag Life sessions look at the realities of operating a family custom harvest business, gardening varieties that thrive in North Dakota, preparing grain samples and sheaves for competition or home display, and a two “edutainment” sessions with Sue Balcom.
- Several sponsored display booths will be available through the day.
And that’s just one day! This coming week, we’re also meeting with advisory boards who help focus our efforts, and meeting with producer groups.
Future editions of Center Points will focus on other coming events, including NDSU Feedlot School and Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop. We’re also accepting registrations for the Getting It Right Crop Production webinars in December, January, February, and March.
If you have questions about registering for any of these events, please call us at 701-652-2951.
