Remembering

Today is Memorial Day, a NDSU holiday, a State of North Dakota holiday, and a federal holiday. This day is set aside to honor and remember members of our armed forced who died protecting our freedoms.

Please, do all you can to honor those sacrifices. Attend a Memorial Day service in your local city. Large cities sponsor elaborate programs that showcase fine talent, but people who live in small towns are more likely to recognize the family names read aloud during services. Every person memorialized today was someone’s daughter or son, someone’s brother or sister, neighbor, mother, father, grandparent. Sometimes the history spans centuries, but sometimes the loss is recent and raw. We are grateful for their spirit of duty and their ultimate sacrifice.

On this day to remember, a break in spring planting, an unofficial start to summer, let’s share a few photos from recent weeks at the Carrington REC and Oakes IRS.
