The NDSU football team will play for its record 10th Football Championship Subdivision national championship on Monday, Jan. 6 against Montana State University.
The game against the top-seeded Bobcats is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. It will be televised nationally on ESPN with Dave Flemming, Brock Osweiler and Stormy Buonantony on the call. The game also will be available to ESPN+ subscribers on ESPN.com and the ESPN app.
NDSU Team Makers also hosts football watch parties across the country. Visit the Team Makers website to watch the game with friends at viewing sites in your area.
NDSU fans and friends of all ages are invited to attend the Bison Tailgate Party presented by Gate City Bank from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 6 at Dr. Pink Field adjacent to Toyota Stadium. The celebration will include bounce houses, yard games, music, face painting and more. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
The second-seeded Bison (13-2) advanced to the title game with a thrilling 28-21 win against conference rival South Dakota State University. Montana State (15-0) beat the University of South Dakota 31-17 in the semifinals.
NDSU last played Montana State in the postseason in the 2021 national title game, which the Bison won 38-10. NDSU has won five straight games against the Bobcats, all in the postseason.
NDSU is 14-3 overall in FCS national championship games. The team’s only losses came against South Dakota State in 2022 and, at the NCAA Division II level, to Texas State and Troy in the 1980s.
Montana State, which is currently on a school-record 15 game winning streak, last won an FCS national football title in 1984. The school also has national titles at the NAIA and Division II levels. The Bobcats are looking to become just the second team in the modern era, after NDSU in 2019, to earn 16 victories in a season.
