Move-in Day is set for Saturday, Aug. 24, and Welcome Week activities will begin later in the day. Welcome Week is a time to connect with other students and get to know some of the resources offered on campus.
“Welcome Week at NDSU is a fantastic opportunity for new and returning students to connect with one another through a variety of engaging events. It's a time to make connections, explore campus and create lasting memories as we kick off the new academic year together,” said Maggie Latterell, assistant director for New Student Programs.
There will be several activities for students to attend throughout the week. Below are a few to look out for.
GROUP EVENTS
Saturday, Aug. 24 through Monday, Aug. 26
After you are moved into your residence hall you will attend required events with your Welcome Week group. Events include Welcome to the Academy, Meet Your Academic Community, Group Meetings and NDSUbelong.
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE
Saturday, Aug. 24, 7:45 p.m. to 11 p.m., Memorial Union and surrounding area
Spend the night making connections and taking part in a variety of activities, including record painting, yard games, improvisational comedy, karaoke, friendship bracelet making and much more. There will be free food and prizes.
WALK THROUGH THE GATES
Monday, Aug. 26, 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m., corner of 12th Avenue and University Drive
Join fellow students in the traditional walk-through of the main university gate. Enjoy music from the Gold Star Marching Band, be cheered on by NDSU staff, faculty and President David Cook and celebrate joining the NDSU community.
FIRST DAY PHOTOS
Tuesday, Aug. 27, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Bison statue across from the library
Share your first day with family and friends. Be sure to stop by the iconic Bison statue to get your first day of school photo.
PAWSITIVE RELAXATION
Tuesday, Aug. 27, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Babbling Brook, west of South Engineering
Meet members of NDSU Counseling Center including their registered therapy dogs and learn about the resources and support the NDSU Counseling Center offers.
TIE-DYE NIGHT
Wednesday, Aug. 28, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Babbling Brook, west of South Engineering
Get a free NDSU t-shirt and tie-dye it in NDSU colors to show off your Bison pride.
MEET THE FARM ANIMALS
Friday, Aug. 30, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Shepperd Arena
NDSU has a rich tradition as an agricultural institution, and this is an opportunity to get to know the animals. The schedule includes equine grooming, bottle feeding dairy calves and looking at ultrasounds of pig and sheep.
STUDENT INVOLVEMENT EXPO
Wednesday, Sept. 4, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., field next to Putnam Hall
Nearly 300 student organizations and campus departments will be showcased. Find something that interests you by visiting with some of the organizations.
