I am interested in the ecology/systematics of the Pentatomoidea, emphasizing bionomics. I particularly am interested in life histories including life cycles, host plants and prey, and parasites and predators. Understanding life cycles requires a thorough knowledge of the morphological differences of immature stages within and between species. Thus, much of my research has focused on developing specific laboratory-rearing techniques to obtain the various instars for synoptic collections and developing description templates for those instars. In addition to bionomics, I have investigated the effects of photoperiod on the morphology of some species (e.g., Euschistus tristigmus, Thyanta calceata). Finally, I am continuing comparative studies of the male and female genitalia of some groups of Pentatomoidea.
