Pentatoma (Prooxys) brevispinus Guérin-Méneville, 1857: 372. (syn. by Stål, 1872)

Prooxys geniculatus Stål, 1862: 102. (syn. by Stål, 1872)

Distribution: United States (AZ, FL, GA, IL, IN, LA, MD, MO, MS, NC, OK, PA, TX, VA). NT: Brazil (Ceara), Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico.

Type Information: Halys punctulatus Palisot de Beauvois, 1818: ST(S), no localities given, location of type material unknown. Pentatoma tenebrosa Say, 1831: ST(S), Louisiana, probably destroyed. Proxys geniculatus StDl, 1862: STS (at least 1%, 1&), Mexico, NHMW, NHRS.
