Bison Leader Award recipients named

The Congress of Student Organizations and the Student Activities Office hosted the 21st annual Bison Leader Awards on Wednesday, April 16.

The BLA’s is a night to recognize the work done by individual student leaders, student organizations and faculty advisors. This year the Congress of Student Organizations received 120 nominations for the various awards given out during the ceremony. 

Below are the 2024-25 Bison Leader Award winners.

Event Awards

  • Collaboration of the Year - Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and Kappa Delta for Freeze–a-thon

  • Educational Program of the Year – Public Health Association for North Dakota Legislators Reception

  • Social Program of the Year - Asian Student Organization for Lunar New Year

Organization Awards

  • Commitment to Diversity – Bison Unified

  • Community Impact – NDSU Lions Club

  • Most Improved Student Organization – Native American Student Association

  • New Student Organization – Archery Club

  • Organization of the Year – Kappa Delta Sorority

Individual Awards

  • Advisor of the Year – Blaine Novak with the Ag Ambassadors

  • New Member of the Year – Kaitlyn Forehand with the National Residence Hall Honorary

  • Unsung Hero - Lucy Lagervall with Delta Delta Delta Sorority and Sarah Kruse with Kappa Delta Sorority

  • Student Leader of the Year - Sai Sri Sravya Vishnumolakala with the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Graduate Student Association

Bison Service Challenge
The Bison Service Challenge is organized by the Volunteer Network and recognizes the student organizations who average the most service hours per member over the course of the academic year.  

This year the following groups won based on their category:

  • Academic Organizations – The Graduate Nursing Student Organization

  • A Non-Service Organization – Bison Robotics

  • A Service Based Organization – Blue Key Honor Society

  • Fraternity and Sorority Life – Kappa Alpha Theta

Additionally, the Volunteer Network distributed the following awards:

  • Philanthropy of the Year – Alpha Tau Omega for Miss NDSU with proceeds going to Down Home

  • Service Project of the Year – Theta Chi Fraternity for their work with Furniture Mission of the Red River Valley
