Former World Bank president to speak at NDSU

Robert Zoellick, former president of the World Bank and a longtime U.S. foreign policy leader, will speak at NDSU on Tuesday, April 8, during a Menard Family Distinguished Speaker Series sponsored by the Sheila and Robert Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth. The event that is free and open to the public.

Zoellick’s talk, titled “America in the World: U.S. Diplomacy and Foreign Policy,” will begin at 4 p.m. in the Oceti Sakowin Ballroom at the NDSU Memorial Union.

The conversation will be followed by an audience question and answer session and a reception with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments at 5:30 p.m. The first 100 guests in attendance will receive a complimentary copy of Zoellick’s book, “America in the World: A History of U.S. Diplomacy and Foreign Policy.”

Widely regarded as a leading expert in global economics and international relations, Zoellick served as president of the World Bank Group from 2007 to 2012. He was U.S. Trade Representative from 2001 to 2005 and Deputy Secretary of State from 2005 to 2006. He is a recipient of the Department of State’s Distinguished Service Award and currently serves as non-executive chairman of Alliance Bernstein, a global investment management firm.

Parking for the event is available in NDSU visitor lots, and guests may request a free parking voucher in advance or at the check-in table. While RSVPs are not required, they are encouraged. Attendees can RSVP via Eventbrite to join in person or register on Zoom to attend virtually.

The Menard Family Distinguished Speaker Series brings global thought leaders to the NDSU campus to explore ideas that impact society and the economy. The series is made possible by a gift from the Menard family.
