Get ready for Move-in Day

SHARE

NDSU Move-in Day is fast approaching with more than 2,500 incoming students expected to move into residence halls across campus. This year Move-in Day is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 24, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Read more below about the important things to know to help make the day go smoothly.

ARRIVAL TIME SLOTS
Each student who is not part of a designated early arrival group will select a 30-minute arrival time slot to help ease traffic concerns. Selection of time slots closes on Monday, Aug. 19, so make sure to sign up as soon as possible.

DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS
Do not use GPS when you arrive on campus to get to your residence hall as we direct traffic flow that day. Every residence hall has specific driving instructions for location, unloading and parking. You will receive a letter in the mail from Residence Life with an automobile dashboard sign with the name of your residence hall on it. Make sure to write your cell phone number on the front where indicated and place the sign in the driver's side car dashboard once on campus.

WHAT TO BRING
Residence Life has provided a list of items students can bring with them as well as items they should not bring. If you don’t want to haul larger items such as mini fridges and microwaves, you can be rent them from CSI and have them delivered to your room prior to Move-in Day.

PRO TIPS
Before getting to campus, label your items with your hall and room number. This will help with any lost/misplaced items.

We offer a limited number of carts but encourage you to bring your own cart/dolly.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Students: Once you arrive on campus, head to your residence hall’s designated check-in location. There hall staff will provide you with your room key, student ID, parking permit (if ordered) and check-in paperwork. Please bring a photo ID for this step.

Families: Once you arrive, fully unload your student’s belongings, then designate one person to drive to your assigned parking lot. Parking permits are not required during Move-in Day. Do not leave your car unattended in the unloading area.

MOVING IN
The Move-In Crew will assist you in unloading your car and carrying items up to your room. Before you unpack, make sure to fill out the Room Condition Form and return it to the hall office. After that you can begin to unpack your belongings. Break down cardboard boxes used during move-in and bring them to a designated recycling location

ENJOY A MEAL
Don’t forget to grab a bite to eat. NDSU’s three dining centers, the food court and coffee shops will be open and will have a discounted lunch rate on Saturday for all friends and families.

Check out the hours of operation on the dining center website.

AFTERNOON ACTIVITES
Once you have unpacked and have gotten settled, experience campus with your family. Check out the Move-in Day website to see a list of fun activities happening Saturday afternoon.

Because Welcome Week activities for students begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, families are encouraged to say their goodbyes by 3:30 p.m.
