The NDSU mathematics department will host the 26th annual Sonia Kovalevsky Day on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in the STEM Building, room 300.
The Sonia Kovalevsky Mathematics High School Day is a program of mathematics activities, games and career information for young women in grades 8-12. Female high school students and their teachers from North Dakota and western Minnesota are invited to attend to meet NDSU mathematics faculty, professional women from the Fargo area who use math in their careers and other high school students who are interested in math.
There will be several workshops that strive to inspire the participants to continue their study of mathematics. Students are welcome to attend for the day with or without a teacher, and all participants will receive prizes.
The program is supported by the NDSU Department of Mathematics, the NDSU College of Arts and Sciences, the office of the Provost and the NDSU Alumni Friends of Sonia Kovalevsky Day.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided. For registration and more information, visit the mathematics department website.
