Biofuel market impact seminar scheduled

The NDSU Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics will sponsor a seminar, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. in Richard H. Barry Hall room 126.

Wyatt Thompson, associate professor in the agricultural economics department of the University of Missouri who is affiliated with the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute, is set to present “Biofuel Mandate Waiver Options and Their Agricultural Market Impacts.”

He previously worked at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development from 1999 to 2006, co-writing reports on agricultural policies and their effects on international trade. He also won a competitive fellowship to conduct similar research at the Policy Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan from July 2002 to December 2003.

Thompson earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics at Washington University in St. Louis. He earned his doctorate in agricultural economics at the University of Missouri.
