A researcher focused on understanding the roles of G-proteins in islet function in health, obesity and diabetes is scheduled to speak at NDSU.
Anjaneyulu Kowluru’s seminar, titled “Phagocyte-like NADPH oxidase [Nox2] in islet β-cell dysfunction: Is it a druggable target?” is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in Sudro Hall room 21. The event is open to anyone interested in biomedical research. Kowluru’s seminar is part of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences research lecture series.
Kowluru is professor of pharmaceutical sciences, professor of internal medicine and associate dean for external scientific affairs in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Wayne State University, Detroit. He also holds a senior research career scientist position at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit.
Kowluru earned a doctorate in biochemistry from Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, India, and has post-doctoral fellowships at Brussels Free University, Belgium, and the University of Wisconsin. He has published 130 research papers in the area of islet biology/diabetes, and presented more than 230 papers in scientific meetings.
