The NDSU Development Foundation/Alumni Association has announced the hiring of two major gift officers. Randy Schmeling and Jared Miller started their new duties Dec. 16.
Schmeling, a 1978 NDSU graduate who majored in business economics, has more than 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. He most recently served as vice president for banking business at BNC National Bank in Bismarck, N.D. In addition to his professional career, Schmeling has been active with NDSU as a Bismarck-Mandan alumni chapter leader, promoter of fine arts and Alumni Association board member. He has held volunteer leadership roles in the Bismarck-Mandan area, including United Way, Chamber of Commerce, Elks Club and First Lutheran Church. He and his wife, Dottie, live in Bismarck and have one son, Brock, who also is an NDSU alumnus. Schmeling will be based in Bismarck.
Miller, a 2004 NDSU graduate who majored in business, has more than seven years of experience as a sales professional. Since 2010, he worked at US Bank Private Client Group as trust relationship manager and assistant vice president. Miller has been active with NDSU, serving on the Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Council and the Alumni Association’s planning committee. He also has been engaged professionally with the Red River Valley Estate Planning Council. Miller and his wife, Annie, and son, Ben, live in Fargo.
Major gift officers work with NDSU alumni, corporate partners and friends to secure support for campuswide priorities that include scholarships, academic programs, endowed chairs, facility renovation, new facilities and other campus priorities.
