NDSU remembered students, faculty and staff who have died in recent years during a special ceremony Jan. 13. The first annual Day of Honor was sponsored by NDSU Staff Senate.

A total of 39 faculty, staff and students were remembered during a candle lighting ceremony conducted by LaDonna DeGeldere, Staff Senate past president; Harlene Hatterman-Valenti, Faculty Senate president; and Erik Diederich, student body vice president.

“All these people made a major difference,” said Erv Inniger, former NDSU associate athletic director, who gave the message during the ceremony in the Memorial Union Great room. “These people gave everything they had to make this university a better place to live, a better place for all of us.”

The ceremony also featured a welcome by President Dean L. Bresciani, “Chimes for Fallen Bison,” a moment of silence and musical selections by the NDSU Concert Choir.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
