A parade through Memorial Union will showcase a group of international students wearing ethnic clothing and carrying flags from their home.
The annual Parade of Nations is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1 at 10 a.m., and will start on the main floor of the Memorial Union near the NDSU Bookstore. The parade serves as a kick-off event for Global Awareness Month at the university.
“The ceremony not only provides an opportunity for students to proudly display their nation’s flag, but also serves as a reflection of the diversity of countries and cultures represented at NDSU,” said Alicia Kauffman, director of International Student and Study Abroad Programs.
The parade will end in the Memorial Union Plains room, where participants will introduce themselves and their country. President Dean L. Bresciani and representatives from student government and the International Student Association will give opening remarks. A reception with coffee and cake will follow.
The event is free and open to the public.
