Earth Day to be celebrated with author lectures

SHARE

In recognition of Earth Day, Adam Rome, environmental historian and author of “The Genius of Earth Day,” is scheduled to present “The Genius of Earth Day” Tuesday, April 22, at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Union Century Theater. A question-and-answer session and book signing will follow the lecture.

Rome also is scheduled to speak that evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Fargo Theater, and will again sign copies of his book.

Each of the lectures is free and open to all NDSU faculty, students and staff.

The NDSU Provost’s Office and the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences are helping to sponsor Rome’s visit to NDSU and Fargo.

In addition, Rome will appear at 4 p.m. at the Concordia College Knutson Campus Centrum to meet with students and faculty in a “Citizen’s Café.” Discussion will center on citizen engagement with environmental issues.

NDSU students in the environmental history class taught by Mark Harvey, professor of history, plan to attend one of Rome’s lectures and his appearance at Concordia in the afternoon. Harvey encourages students who have an interest in the environment or sustainability issues to attend. For more information, contact Harvey at mark.harvey@ndsu.edu.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
