Charlette Moe, associate director of choral activities, and Michael Weber, assistant director of choral activities, were named guest editors for the March 2014 issue of Choral Journal.
The journal is the official publication of the American Choral Directors Association, with a circulation of more than 20,000 members in 43 countries.
The March issue was devoted to publications stemming from the May 2013 Choral Music of the Americas Symposium, which was hosted by the NDSU School of Music and American Choral Directors Association, and featured José Rivera, Maria Guinand, Hilary Apfelstadt and Jorge Cózatl. Each author/presenter explored the history and techniques of their culture's choral music, Cuba, Venezuela, Canada and Mexico, respectively.
All presentations from the symposium are included in the Choral Music of the Americas monograph, which also was edited by Moe, Weber and Jo Ann Miller, University Distinguished Professor and director of choral activities.
Weber conducts the Madrigal Singers, the Statesmen of NDSU and teaches classes in choral conducting, choral literature and music education. He regularly conducts for organizations throughout the region and is a founding member of the Summer Performing Arts Co. in Grand Forks, N.D. Weber is president of the North Central Division of the American Choral Directors Association.
Moe is coordinator for the Master of Music in Music Education degree. She instructs graduate and undergraduate courses and conducts the Cantemus women's choir and the University Chamber Singers. This week she is presenting an academic paper regarding the symposium at the North Central American Choral Directors Association conference in Des Moines, Iowa.
NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
