NDSU distance runners Maddie McClellan and Brecca Wahlund have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 team in Division I women’s track and field and cross country by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
McClellan is a junior from Perham, Minnesota, with a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average in English education. She was named the Summit League Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and the Summit League Indoor Championships MVP in 2014.
Wahlund is a sophomore from Minot, North Dakota, majoring in exercise science with a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average. She was named the 2013 Summit League Cross Country Athlete of the Year after winning the Summit League individual title and leading NDSU to a third-consecutive team championship.
McClellan and Wahlund become the seventh and eighth women in NDSU’s Division I era to earn first-team Academic All-District honors.
As All-District honorees, both will advance to the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-America honors.
NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
