NDSU baseball senior outfielder Tim Colwell was named to the 2014 Senior CLASS Award All-America Second-Team. He is the first-ever Senior CLASS Award All-American selection for NDSU.
Colwell, the 2014 Capital One Division I Baseball Academic All-American Athlete of the Year, graduated with a 4.0 grade-point average as a university studies major and Spanish minor while guiding NDSU to its first Summit League Tournament title and appearance in the Division I NCAA Tournament. He was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America first-team for the third consecutive year and garnered Summit League Player of the Year honors.
Colwell was also named first-team All-Summit League for the third straight season and was selected to the Academic All-League team for the second consecutive year.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.
NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
