The NDSU Libraries is scheduled to host a new weekly event this fall called the “MAKERS Film Series.” The campus community is invited to attend.
The six-week series features documentaries from the PBS series “MAKERS,” which aims to be one of the most dynamic collections of women’s stories ever assembled.
The showings are scheduled for Tuesdays, Sept. 30-Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. in the library classroom, room 120.
“Two weeks ago we were invited by PBS to show season two of the TV series that focuses on women and their impact on society,” explained Amanda Booher, libraries event and promotional coordinator. “We are very excited about this opportunity.”
Through interviews, “MAKERS” gathers the thoughts of such well-known figures as Hillary Clinton, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Oprah Winfrey, and important trailblazers like Christy Haubegger, the founder of Latina Magazine, and Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to run the Boston Marathon.
Each film is one hour long and light refreshments will be served.
Topics will change each week, starting with comedy on Sept. 30. The Oct. 7 show will concentrate on Hollywood. Space is the focus of the Oct. 14 program, while war will be addressed on Oct. 21. Contributions of women to business will be discussed on Oct. 28, and the final show on Nov. 4 will center on politics.
The series is hosted by the NDSU Libraries and NDSU Women and Gender Studies, with financial support from the Division of Equity, Diversity and Global Outreach.
NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
