Merideth Sherlin has been appointed interim director of the Office of Admission. She takes over for Jobey Lichtblau, who has accepted a position as director of NDSU’s Wallman Wellness Center. They begin their new positions Feb. 2.
A national search will be conducted to permanently fill the director of admission position.
Sherlin has served as associate director of the Office of Admission for 12 years. She also has worked as assistant director and outreach coordinator.
“Merideth possesses a thorough understanding of all of the admission processes and will provide stability to guide us through this transition,” said Tim Alvarez, vice president for Student Affairs. “We are grateful for her willingness to step into this temporary leadership role.”
Sherlin holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mass communication from NDSU.
As Wellness Center director, Lichtblau will lead the overall strategic and operational planning of the Wellness Center, which includes fitness programs, campus recreation and intramural sports, wellness education and child care services.
Lichtblau has more than 19 years of experience in higher education. He started his career at NDSU as an admission counselor in 1995 and held several positions before becoming director of admission nine years ago. He has served on numerous campus committees and most recently was chair of the Homecoming Committee.
“I am pleased to welcome Jobey Lichtblau as the new director of the Wellness Center,” said Barbara Lonbaken, dean for student wellness. “He is well-prepared for the role with his extensive leadership, management and supervisory experience in higher education. Jobey’s commitment to customer service and passion for connecting with students are exceptional. As the new director, I am confident in Jobey’s ability to take the Wellness Center facility, programs and services to the next level.”
Lichtblau holds a bachelor’s in communication studies from Winona State University, Winona, Minnesota, and a master’s in management from the University of Mary, Fargo, North Dakota.
