Michael Borr has been named the new director of the NDSU University Police and Safety Office. He took on his new responsibilities on Thursday, April 9.

A hiring committee with representatives from a wide range of campus stakeholder groups selected Borr following a nationwide search to fill the position.

“The safety and security of our students, staff and faculty is one of our top priorities at all times, and this position is crucial to that priority,” said NDSU Vice President for Finance and Administration Bruce Bollinger. “Mike is a proven leader and we’re confident he’s going to do a great job.”

As the director of the NDSU University Police and Safety Office, Borr supervises the associate director of environmental health, the associate director of public health, the chief of police and the associate director of police compliance and communication. Overall, he manages approximately 30 NDSU employees.

Borr has worked at NDSU since 2005, most recently as the associate director of environmental health and safety. Prior to joining NDSU, he was with the North Dakota Department of Health’s Chemistry Division, where he was a chemist, senior chemist and assistant director. He graduated from NDSU in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a minor in business.
