NDSU Provost Ingram announced 55 NDSU faculty members have been awarded promotions and/or received tenure, effective the 2015-16 academic year. Promotions were recommended by NDSU Provost Beth Ingram and approved by President Dean L. Bresciani. The State Board of Higher Education granted tenure at its April 30 meeting.
“In reviewing the portfolios, I was impressed with the distinguished accomplishments of these faculty members," said Ingram. "They are leaders in their respective fields who consistently challenge our students to become tomorrow’s leaders. I offer my congratulations and look forward to their continued contributions to NDSU’s teaching, research and outreach efforts.”
Faculty earn promotion or tenure after a probationary period and peer review. The review process and procedures are rigorous, and successful candidates undergo careful scrutiny and must demonstrate to their peers and the administration that they have met high standards of performance. In order to be promoted or tenured, faculty members are reviewed at department, college and university levels in recognition of the importance of institutional purposes and priorities.
“The Promotion and Tenure Evaluation Committees did an excellent job evaluating the many applications," Ingram said. "I thank them for their thoughtful recommendations and performing this important service work for our university.”
