Six students, alumni earn recognition at national convention

Six NDSU Sigma Alpha Sorority students and alumni received national awards during the national convention in St. Louis. 

The national award recipients include:

  • Caitlyn Krueger, senior elementary education and human development and family science major from Caledonia, Minnesota, received third place in the Outstanding Senior category
  • Beth Burdolski, BS ’15, soil science, from Bismarck, North Dakota, received second place for Outstanding Leader
  • Cassandra Hillen, BS '15, food science, from Fargo, received second place for Outstanding New MemberAryel Smith, senior agriculture communications major from Hector, Minnesota, was awarded the 2015 Sigma Alpha Convention Scholarship
  • Kari (Bitz) Tews, BS ’04 mass communication, was named Outstanding Alumni Member

Additionally, Kimberly Stassen, BS ’09 agribusiness, was elected vice president of alumni on the National Sorority Board.

The NDSU Sigma Alpha chapter also received third place in the Founder’s Cup for exceptional chapter reporting and communications with nationals.

Sigma Alpha Sorority is a professional agricultural sorority that promotes scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship among its members. Sigma Alpha has 80 chapters with more than 9,900 members.
