The NDSU Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering and YWCA Cass-Clay are sponsoring TechGYRLS, an after-school program for girls in grades 4-7. The program begins Monday, Jan. 26.
The program is held at NDSU and taught by mentors from the NDSU student organization of Society of Women Engineers. The 10-week program meets on Mondays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Participants learn about Microworlds and LEGORobotics. With Microworlds, they will explore the magic of a computer while making their own animated calendar. With LEGORobotics, the girls will learn to build and program their own Lego robots. Other activities include a trip to the KVLY/KX4 television stations, a tour of a local manufacturing company, bridge design and hands-on jewelry manufacturing.
