NDSU senior quarterback Carson Wentz was selected as the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year for Division I football by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

A health and physical education major with a 4.0 grade-point average, Wentz also was a first-team Academic All-America choice last year. The Bismarck, North Dakota, native was a driving force behind the four-time defending NCAA Football Championship Subdivision national champion Bison through the first six games of 2015 before his season was cut short with a broken right wrist.

He has accepted an invitation to participate in the Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, on Jan. 30, 2016.

NDSU sophomore defensive end Greg Menard from Lakeville, Minnesota, also was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-America first team. Menard has a 3.90 GPA in civil engineering. He ranks third in the Missouri Valley Football Conference in sacks and sixth in tackles for loss.
