Recent NDSU emergency management graduates Katherine (Schulz) Mortenson and James Sink were awarded first place for undergraduate research in the 2015 International Association of Emergency Managers Student Academic Poster Competition.
The competition was held at the organization's annual conference in November in Las Vegas.
Their poster, "The New Normal: Impacts of Oil Drilling and Production on the Emergency Management Function," represented research completed in their Advanced Business Continuity course at NDSU.
Mortenson grew up in Storm Lake, Iowa, while Sink's hometown is Mapleton, North Dakota. Both graduated in December with their bachelor's degree in emergency management.
