The NDSU Main Library has scheduled a grand re-opening ceremony for Friday, Jan. 29, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony will feature refreshments, student prizes and self-guided tours of the library's new spaces, including the Math Emporium.
A $1.725 million renovation project last summer and fall gave the library an updated and more accessible front entrance, a new stairwell and the circulation area was consolidated with inter-library loan services. The work also addressed library traffic flow, safety issues and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
"The renovation has created a beautiful and functional entrance with a clear pathway to the collections and services within the building. We’re delighted to have a point of entry that is compliant and welcoming for our students," said Bridget Burke, dean of libraries. "The consolidation of staff allows for future expansion of study spaces, and the modern furnishings selected by students meet the needs of both individual study and collaborative work. It’s a huge step forward for the NDSU Libraries."
