Scott A. Beaulier, executive director of the Center for Economic Liberty at Arizona State University, has been named dean of the College of Business. NDSU Provost Beth Ingram made the announcement March 1.
“I’m delighted that we have attracted Dr. Beaulier to NDSU from Arizona State University,” commented Provost Ingram, noting Beaulier will join NDSU this summer. “I believe that he has the vision and energy to lead the College of Business in the next phase of its development as a partner with local and regional businesses and as a destination for business education. In addition, he is a highly-productive scholar who has a proven record of outreach and engagement.”
Before joining Arizona State University, Beaulier was executive director of Troy University's Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy. At Troy University, he also was chair of the Division of Economics and Finance and held the title of Adams-Bibby Chair of Free Enterprise.
From 2004-10, he was at Mercer University, Macon, Georgia. While there, he was BB&T Distinguished Professor of Capitalism and director of the Center for Undergraduate Research in Public Policy and Capitalism.
Earlier in his career, he was an assistant professor of economics at Beloit College, Beloit, Wisconsin.
Beaulier's vita lists 26 publications, 10 contributions to books or collected volumes, six book reviews and nine other publications or policy papers. His fields of interest include applied microeconomics, development economics and political economy.
He is a board member of the American Energy Alliance and the Institute for Humane Studies. Beaulier also is a board of scholars member for the Foundation for Economic Education and a member of the Mont Pelerin Society. In addition, he is a contributor to RealClearMarkets and an editorial board member of the Journal of Entrepreneurship and Public Policy.
Beaulier earned his bachelor's degree at Northern Michigan University, Marquette, Michigan, and his master's degree and doctorate in economics at George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia.
