NDSU center to host Midwest Sales Symposium

The NDSU College of Business’s Center for Professional Selling and Sales Technology is scheduled to host the Midwest Sales Symposium April 22 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo. The one-day event's sessions will focus on sales, the sales industry and sales technology. The conference is open to all members of the public interested in the sales industry.

"We’ve developed sessions to discuss topics that impact sales, regardless of industry," explained Mike Krush, associate professor and center director. "With customers able to conduct unprecedented levels of research, technology providing greater insight into potential prospects, and sales objectives always increasing, it’s a great opportunity to learn and potentially add one more aspect to your skill set."

The conference will include a series of sessions focused on sales-related topics such as:

• Sales and Technology: Including gamification, predictive analytics and social intelligence

• Sales Management trends and topics

• Developing effective sales meetings

• Sales and Entrepreneurship

Internationally known expert on sales intelligence Sam Richter is set to be the luncheon keynote speaker. Richter wrote the best-selling book, "Take the Cold Out of Cold Calling," considered the preeminent publication on finding information online and using it for sales success. The book was recognized as the "Sales Book of the Year" by the American Association of Inside Sales Professionals, and was named a "USA Book News Winner" and a "Sales Book Awards Silver Medalist."

Since 2010, Richter has annually been listed among the "Top 25 Most Influential People in Sales" by InsideView. He also was named one of the "Top Chief Marketing Officers" on Twitter.

The conference has collaborated with Richter to offer a special opportunity for all conference attendees. All paid attendees will receive "Take the Cold Out of Cold Calling" (e-book) and access for one year to Sam Richter’s "KNOW MORE! CENTER," an online resource for sales, videos, guidelines and other information. Normally, a $195 value, the offer is provided with paid attendance at the symposium.

"It’s an exciting time to be a part of sales," Krush said. "Customers and their requirements are changing, technology tools continue to provide new opportunities and the need for honing one’s craft is on everyone’s mind. That’s why we created this conference."

The symposium begins at 7:30 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast.

The Center for Professional Selling and Sales Technology is located in NDSU’s College of Business. The center provides an academic curriculum focused on sales as well as develops opportunities for industry interaction.
