Najla Ghazi Amundson, first-generation Arab-American and Muslim, will share her experience of wearing the Muslim Hijab for the first time. The presentation is planned for Wednesday, March 25, at noon in Memorial Union Century Theater. Amundson is the media relations director for NDSU.
Amundson chose to wear the Hijab for one week during the 2007 fall semester for a paper required in a graduate methods class at NDSU. What began as an assignment ended as an introspective experience that led her to ask some difficult questions about her own identity. She will discuss what made her decide to wear the Hijab, and what has happened to her as a result.
