Tanner Schoenfelder, an NDSU senior majoring in sports and urban turfgrass management, has been selected to attend the Jacobsen Future Turf Managers Seminar May 23-26, in Charlotte, North Carolina. About 12 students from across the country are selected each year for this outstanding opportunity.
Students are selected for the Turf Managers Seminar based on their status as a graduating senior in a turf-related program of study, adviser recommendation as a potential leader in their future turf career, academic performance, leadership skills and work ethic.
The seminar gives participants an inside look at the industry through educational talks, hands-on experiences and tours, and an opportunity to network with peers and turf professionals. All expenses are paid by Jacobsen, a turf equipment company.
Schoenfelder is from Moorhead, Minnesota. He will intern this summer with Bethpage State Park on Long Island, New York, which will host The Barclays Championship 2016, a PGA Tour event, in August. Schoenfelder’s career goal is to be a general manager at a golf and country club, or a golf course superintendent. His adviser is Deying Li, associate professor in plant sciences and coordinator of the sports and urban turfgrass management undergraduate program.
