Joe Deutsch, assistant professor of physical education teacher education, will give three presentations in March. He is the only certified Physical Best health-fitness instructor in the state. Physical Best is a comprehensive health-related fitness education program developed by physical educators to educate, challenge and encourage children to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes for a healthy and fit life.
Deutsch will present “Implementing the Physical Best curriculum into your Physical Education Teacher Education Program” and “Implementing an Effective Marketing Plan for Your Non-Profit Organization” at the Central District of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance annual convention in Rochester, Minn. He will present “Physical Best Higher Education Specialist Training” at the National American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in Tampa, Fla.
Deutsch has given two national, four regional, two state and four university presentations, specifically on the Physical Best curriculum. He also was asked recently to contribute to the “Physical Best Curriculum Teacher’s Guide.”
A Fargo native, Deutsch began teaching at NDSU in 2005. He previously taught five years of elementary physical education. He was named the 2005 Fargo Parent-Teacher Association Teacher of the Year. He serves as vice president of Sport and Physical Education for the Central District of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
