NDSU faculty and students are scheduled to present at the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society’s annual convention in Minneapolis, March 25-28.

Their panel is called “Affordances of Cultural Immersion Experiences for English Education Majors.” The moderator will be Kelly Sassi, assistant professor of English. The student panelists will be seniors Jacob Knodel, Laura Odland, Kristin Eitreim and Nicole Desjarlais.

The panel will focus on English education students’ immersion experiences at Como Park in St. Paul, Minn., and Belcourt High School on the Turtle Mountain Reservation in North Dakota.

“The students on the panel are all English education majors. I hope attending the conference is a good professional development experience for them,” explained Sassi. “By taking the initiative to propose a panel, they are taking their first step toward becoming teacher leaders."

With the theme “Reflections,” the upcoming convention has attracted a record 815 paper submissions and 25 panel proposals.
