The NDSU men’s basketball team has earned the Team Academic Excellence Award for the third consecutive year. The award is presented by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
The academic award program recognizes outstanding academic achievement by teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for the 2015-16 season. All teams in NCAA Divisions I, II, III and NAIA Division I and II are eligible.
NDSU was one of 27 Division I schools to receive the award, as the student-athletes on the 2015-16 roster combined for a cumulative 3.31 team GPA.
The Bison recorded a 3.27 team grade-point average for the spring 2016 semester – matching the highest men’s basketball semester GPA since NDSU moved to Division I.
The Bison had seven men record better than a 3.70 GPA for the spring 2016 semester, including three athletes with 4.0 marks.
