Anisa Mehdi, Emmy award winning journalist and filmmaker specializing in Islam, will present “Being Arab or Muslim in America” on Monday, March 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Memorial Union Arikara room. The presentation is part of the Social Justice Series, sponsored by the Student Activities Association.
Mehdi will speak about her findings and experience on what it means to be Muslim in America. She also will address stereotypes and media bias.
She is known for her groundbreaking documentaries that shatter stereotypes of Muslims and Arabs. She is an American Arab of Iraqi descent, with Muslim and Christian religious heritage.
