The NDSU women’s track and field team and 16 individual student-athletes were honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as All-Academic performers for the 2016 season, the organization announced July 28.
NDSU’s total of 16 individual honorees was a new school record and the fourth-most in the nation among all Division I track and field programs.
As a team, the Bison women earned their 11th straight All-Academic Team Award from the association, far surpassing the minimum required cumulative GPA of 3.0. NDSU’s cumulative team GPA was 3.55 for the 2016 season.
NDSU honorees, their GPAS and qualifying event include:
• Amy Andrushko, 3.95, indoor 800m
• Anna Benke, 3.94, outdoor pole vault
• Lexy Boschee, 3.54, pentathlon
• Ann Govig, 3.79, high jump
• Shelby Gunnells, 4.00, shot put
• Rose Jackson, 3.72, pentathlon
• Melissa Kitching, 3.46, 400m hurdles
• Morgan Milbrath, 3.97, 400m hurdles
• Maddy Nilles, 3.26, discus
• Alyssa Olin, 3.64, javelin
• Courtney Pasiowitz, 3.81, shot put
• Sierra Rosenau, 3.63, javelin
• Brittany Stangl, 3.66, outdoor pole vault
• Erin Teschuk, 3.72, mile
• Katelyn Weimerskirch, 3.48, discus
• Alexis Woods, 3.62, outdoor 4x400m relay
To qualify for the All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event on the official NCAA performance list; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships, including preliminary rounds.
